So you’re ready to leave behind the old diet and lifestyle and move into a better place. I commend you for seeking information and finding my website and this page. My passion is to spread health and wellbeing to others so I put together this information to help you on your journey.
Step 1 – Nourishment
Let’s start with diet. There are so many choices out there that it can be very confusing. I think everyone agrees that the junk food needs to go. That definitely means white sugar and white flour! But what about the rest of it? What fats and oils are good? Raw or pasteurized dairy? Is organic food really better? Should I eliminate grains?
The best place to start is by understanding how our ancestors ate and why they made certain choices. I don’t believe eliminating any type of food completely is sustainable in the long run and it can even impact your health. Start by learning about a nutrient dense, properly prepared whole food diet. From there, make temporary adjustments as needed for your situation. Here’s a list of books/cookbooks to get you started.
Step 2 – Emotional Detox
The next area to address is stress or out of control emotions. Are you aware that stress can impact your physical health? Even on a perfect diet, you could experience unexplained issues related more to what’s running through your mind than what you are putting into your mouth. Let’s call this one stress management. I recommend to all of my clients a daily practice of reviewing their day and releasing what’s bothering them. Sounds pretty touchy feely but this work is incredibly powerful and the key to health. Here are some books that explain in detail how your thoughts and emotions can impact you physically along with techniques you can use to heal.
Step 3 – Physical Detox
It’s time to talk about regular detox now. Unless you live under a rock, you’ve been hearing about this one for years. Adding some simple detox procedures to your routine can be very helpful. Of course, start by not putting any toxins in or on your body. That means be careful about what you ingest, inhale and rub on your skin. Switch to non toxic cleaners and personal care products. Don’t forget exercise. Move it or lose it. You need to get your heart pumping and your lymphatic system flowing to move out the waste products created by your cells.
Here are some resources to get started.
